LED component products (LED)

Creation of the IECQ LED component products was requested by the LED industry because their products initially failed to live up to the claims of long life being made for them, and were not providing the energy savings and lifetime cost savings as advertised. All the electronic components, parts, modules, and assemblies in such systems must work satisfactorily together. It is clear that mass production of LED lighting systems cannot be made at the expense of quality and reliability. One faulty component can result in poor performance or even worse, the overall failure of the LED lighting system. 

For these reasons, the LED lighting industry requested help from the IECQ to improve the quality, reliability, and endurance of their products and thereby realize the promise of LED lighting and help maintain the industry’s reputation.

The IECQ LED component products scheme standardizes the testing and production processes of component manufacturers to ensure reliability and comparability. This is ensured through independent conformity assessment and on-going surveillance by an impartial third-party IECQ certification body by sampling, test processes, test results, and production controls of component manufacturers to technical specification(s) developed in accordance with IECQ OD 3803.

IECQ has a solution that gives manufacturers, suppliers, and buyers the confidence that the products they sell or purchase have been independently verified and meet all declared requirements and specifications.
